Vignobles Ouzoulias | Saint-Emilion

Certified Organic

Claire is the 6th generation in the Ouzoulias family to own and farm three small estates in Saint-Emilion. Claire’s father Pierre was an early believer and adopter of organic farming in the Bordeaux region and began converting the estates to organic farming in the 80’s. All three have been certified organic since 1989, and the same hands on in the vineyard, hands off in the cellar approach is taken at all three estates: soils are tilled, yields average 45hl/ha, harvest is done by hand, sorting takes place at the vineyard, native yeast ferments, 12-18mo ageing in barrel, estate bottled. Château Franc Pourret is 5 ha of Saint Emilion Grand Cru, 60% Merlot, 40% Cab Franc, planted on clay limestone. Clos Chante l’Alouette is 3.5 hectares on predominantly sandy soil with iron. 60% Merlot, 40% Cab Franc. Domaine du Haut Patarabet is 3.5 ha of Saint Emilion Grand Cru on sandy clay, 60% Merlot, 40% Cab Franc. (read more)
